Signal Conditioning Applications Slide 8
Texas Instruments currently offers three different devices for extending HDMI cables reach.  The DS16EV5110A is an equalizer and is normally used at the far end of the system (video sink).  It recovers the signals after the cable loss has closed down the eye and also attenuated it.  This device may be used up to 2.25 Gbps (per lane) supporting 12 bpp HDMI 1080p applications.  The DS22EV5110 is an enhanced reach equalizer that also features signal conditioning on the driver outputs to drive longer output interconnects (long traces, or cable). This device may also be used up to 2.25 Gbps (per lane) supporting 12 bpp 1080p HDMI applications.  The third device, the DS34RT5110, is the gold standard.  It has the enhanced equalizer and the signal conditioning cable driver outputs along with a reclocking circuit that cleans up the eye even further.  This device may be used as an extender, repeater, or even for multi-hop repeater applications.
