What if an application has weak ASIC or FPGA outputs but it is desired to transmit the maximum distance across a large FR4 backplane or cable link?  Buffer/Repeater (BR) parts are the ideal solution in this case.  These are offered with a variety of functions and speeds.  The DS25BR100 is the full feature device with an EQ input and pre-emphasis on the output for signal conditioning on both sides.  This is an ideal “repeater” device.  If the part is located near the source, the DS25BR120 can be used with just the transmit equalization (Pre-E) feature.  The DS25BR110 is available for the far end of the cable where just the input equalization may be needed.  Thus, a BR device is available for any location or configuration.
