Products in this family are hand tools used in conjunction with screw style fasteners having hexagonal, internal wrenching heads. Hex keys or wrenches, also known by the trademark "Allen" name, are used with screw fasteners having a simple hexagonal socket in their heads. The Torx (also a trademark) style, known alternatively as star or hexalobular screw head form, exaggerates the points of the basic hexagon form into a 6-pointed star shape, allowing increased torque transfer or reduced likelihood of screw head damage.
