The first stage of the power conversion in a DC fast-charging block diagram is the high-voltage AC-to-DC conversion stage. A power factor correction (PFC) block accomplishes this AC-to-DC conversion while also increasing the power factor/power quality. Depending on the topology, various power devices as well as gate driver products are recommended, as shown here. The particular diagram at the top of this slide is a Vienna topology unidirectional PFC stage. However, part recommendations for the bidirectional topology of the various power levels are also shown.
