Permanent split capacitor motors (PSC) motors require an external capacitor to be connected to the motor circuit to start the motor turning. A PSC motor typically operates within an efficiency range of 50% to 70%. The components that make up a permanent split capacitor motor are the stator, the main winding, the auxiliary winding, the rotor and the capacitor. The main improvements are better starting torque and higher efficiency.
