Our second reason as to the attractiveness of iPass is that the family was first adopted to support Mini-SAS and Mini-SATA standards for 3 core reasons; It is electrically capable of supporting the Gen 1 and Gen 2 data rates (as well as beyond), the same connector could be leveraged for both internal and external applications and the physical sizes of the current standard connectors were not scalable to the densities required. For these reasons, over the next couple of years, iPass will replace the current SFF standards primarily because they are not able to support the Gen 2 speeds, while iPass is capable of going beyond them.
