iPass is Molex's trade name for a versatile high-speed, high-bandwidth connector system. Its capabilities have enabled it to be adopted by several industry standards already, but the intent is to expand its use into other applications. It’s versatile because there are both internal and external variations using a common host connector. Shown on either side of the host connector are pictures of both external and internal configurations. Mini-SAS, Mini-SATA, and External PCI Express are the standards that are based on iPass technology, but its also written into the multi-source agreement for QSFP (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable). Beyond the standards, iPass is electrically capable of supporting all the published roadmaps for the most common protocols including InfiniBand, Gig Ethernet, Fiber Channel, HyperTransport, Serial Rapid IO, etc. - iPass can be a solution for applications under all these protocols, and Molex is targeting all these protocols as iPass is proliferated into the market.
