LT4356-Slide5

The key benefit of the LT4356 is its ability to ride out transients, acting like a voltage regulator while the fault condition is present. This allows downstream circuitry to remain operational without damage. The clamped output voltage is defined by selection of feedback resistors while the input may be configured to handle transients up to 100V. If the fault persists, an adjustable timer sets the time limit to ensure the MOSFET stays within its operating limits before the load is disconnected and the system is shut down. This takes better advantage of the Safe Operating Area (SOA), than a fixed timer interval.
