diff and common
The differential input subtracts the complement signal from the true signal, resulting in a single-ended signal with twice the amplitude relative to the input. Because of this subtraction function, any noise that is coupled onto both signal lines is attenuated and will be completely cancelled in the ideal situation in which noise appears on both traces equally. This effect is called common mode noise rejection and is one of the key benefits of differential signaling.
