DAC1-Slide6

The next portion of this presentation will examine functions of the D/A Control Register. First, to initialize the D/A, the user must set the D/A Enable (DAE) bit to 1. This turns on both D/A channels. Subsequently, they can individually turn on or off the D/A outputs via the D/A Output Enable bits, DAOE0 and DAOE1. It should be noted that after a Reset or an exit from Hardware Standby mode occurs, the DACR bits are reset to their default values. This turns off the D/A and disables its outputs. So the user must initialize the converter again before it can be used. In many power-sensitive applications, it’s desirable to reduce power while maintaining the analog voltage output. To do this, make sure the application uses the Software Standby mode. Assume the Hardware Standby mode has been exited. How would the user re-initialize the DACR? They would move their cursor over the appropriate location on the DACR to re-initialize it.
