In the graph of the test results shown on this slide, the blue line is the true case temperature as measured by the sensor attached to the case, and the red line is the infrared temperature that is measured by the TMP006. As shown in the chart, the TMP006 tracks the case temperature very closely. The brown line is the local temperature sensors that are also built into the TMP006. This shows the PCB temperature of the system which can vary considerably from the case temperature, so using the approximation approach mentioned in previous slides would require implementing significant safety margins and result in system performance loss.
