SMD Inductors Slide 5

Shielded inductors are typically made with a ferrite ring over the bobbin core.  With these inductors a large amount of the magnetic flux is diverted through the ring which leaves little remaining to affect the surrounding area.  The trade-off for this lower radiation is the loss of some current carrying capacity.
