Constant Current Regulators Slide 4

LEDs have a negative forward voltage temperature coefficient. This can be demonstrated in a simple LED circuit which shows that as LEDs warm up, the forward voltage across them decreases. This reduction in voltage across the LEDs results in an increase in voltage across the resistor and an increase in the current. This further increases LED temperature and can lead to thermal runaway.
