Measurement of Input Overshoot Image of Nexperia's 74HC4851 Measurements with RC Inputs

This shows actual lab measurements of a system. The original design used an RC network on the input Y0 of 20 kΩ to VCC and 3.9 nF to GND, but only a resistor on input Y1 of 20 kΩ to GND on the second channel. The oscilloscope shows that when the output current switched from Y1 to Y0 (as seen in the blue curve) it resulted in a charge induction occuring in Y0 (as seen in the orange curve). The circuit was then modified by adding a 3.9 nF capacitor to the Y1 input to match that of the Y0 input. When the test was run again, there was a significant reduction in input overshoot to under 10 mV.
