The PIC24F “KL” family targets cost sensitive, low power applications. Some of the “KL” devices are ideal for smaller form factor portable accessories that do not require integrated analog such as intelligent sensors or disposable low cost medical testers, dispensers, and inhalers that may have an external A/D converter for more accuracy. There are also “KL” parts with up to 28-pins, with more memory and analog and digital peripheral integration for cost sensitive, low power applications that need multiple communication channels, but that do not have large I/O and memory requirements. Electronic toys and games, portable sports and fitness gear as well as cell-phone accessories like hands-free car kits, portable GPS, industrial handheld instruments, and portable media players, are a few application examples.
