EM knows that the hardware may not be exactly right for the application, so the EMBC2x family has a modular certification. This means that the certification stays with the PCB even if it is taken out of the EM plastics. There is built-in design support for migrating between 20mm and 24mm diameter coin-cell batteries, such as the 2016, 32, 2450, and 2477, without having to recertify the product. Customers who want to build their own enclosure can order the module and retain the certification. Lastly, for customers who want to extend the hardware features of the product there is an optional expansion header, to integrate additional peripherals such as novel sensors or different batteries.
