Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators are very precise frequency standards, excellent for use in applications requiring low current consumption but good frequency stability. Typical applications are cellular base stations, test equipment, Synchronous Ethernet, VSAT, PTP IEEE-1588 and Stratum 3 applications. TCXOs operate on the basis of a compensating voltage applied to the oscillator circuit to adjust the natural frequency response of the oscillator’s quartz crystal unit. Through a sweep of the operating temperature, frequency measurements are made and stored.
