Another consideration is the power dissipation of the SSR in its operating environment. For example, the PS7141E-1A has an allowed maximum power dissipation of 560 mW. The power dissipation of each device in the circuit can contribute to the overall ambient temperature of the operating equipment. The calculated total power dissipation of 372 mW (Po = 12 mW + 360 mW = 372 mW) is within the allowed 560 mW limit. Also, the designer should consider that the power dissipation of the device will be elevated at higher temperatures and other operating conditions that might bring it closer to limit and if its dissipation is contributing to this higher temperature environment.
