In summary, there are three criteria numbers required to determine what NTC thermistor would best fit an application. The energy that needs to be absorbed by the NTC thermistor caused by inrush current is 90 Joules, the steady state current is 32.4A, and the minimum resistance is 1.203Ω. Using these numbers it can be concluded that the SL32 1R036 or MS35 1R040 from Ametherm would best fit this customer’s application.
