A brand new field that Intel® is working in with a partner named Sensity is on-chip FPGA real-time video analytics. The raw processing power of the FPGA provides a unique platform on which to implement almost any analytical function for processing and monitoring video streams in a surveillance application. This type of IP function can be used in machine vision or intelligent surveillance/security applications. These algorithms could be incorporated into the DVR or camera side of the network as well. Triggers from these real-time analyzed events could be used to increase or decrease network bandwidth, control DVR recording events or enhance camera sensitivity/resolution or frame rates.
