With the GM3 package, Wolfspeed is able to introduce two low RDS(on) half-bridge variants of 6 and 8 mΩ, nicely adding to the Wolfspeed WolfPACK™ portfolio. Additionally, Wolfspeed is offering each RDS(on) variant with the standard alumina substrate and an optional thermally-enhanced aluminum nitride substrate which provides very high useable ampacity, maximizing power density and reliability while still simplifying system layout and scalability. The target applications really remain the same for the GM3 as with the FM3. Wolfspeed sees adoption in the off-board fast-charging market as both active front-end and DC/DC converter building blocks, or really any grid-tied converter application where simple design implementation and scalability is needed together with high power density and efficiency. The ease of design implementation and scalability also suits applications such as industrial motor drives or those that require higher switching frequencies such as the soft-switching converters found in induction heating and welding.
