Thermosetting compounds undergo a heat, chemical or radiation cross-linking process that ‘cures’ the jacket. This results in a material that generally has excellent mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties. Consequently, thermosetting compounds are used in applications where the cable is expected to endure harsh operating conditions. Portable cordage cables and hook-up wires are frequently offered with thermosetting jackets. Thermosetting materials are also used in FIT® tubing products.
