The 3M™ Power Clamp System is designed for the electrical and environmental requirements of its many applications. The 5-position contact used in the connector terminates to thicker 18- and 20-gauge wire required to carry the higher voltage and current – the covers are color coded to identify which wire diameters are accepted. Two polarization styles prevent incorrect mating between header and socket: the Type B connector is the polarization style approved by CLPA for CC-Link. One-touch positive latches helps ensure that once mated, both sides of the two part connector system remain in contact during use, even in high vibration environments. A dust cover option helps reduce the risk of contamination to the contacts when the socket is disconnected.
