Digi-Key Celebrates Engineers Week by Spotlighting Innovation and Product Design

From Concept to Production, Design Engineers Value Digi-Key's Website, Design Tools, 24 x 7 Technical Support, and its Dedicated Staff

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - 2015 年 02 月 23 日

Global electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, the industry leader in electronic component selection, availability and delivery, today announced their participation in the 2015 Engineers Week sponsored by DiscoverE.

Engineers Week, formerly known National Engineers Week, gives engineers the rare chance to step onto the stage and gain recognition for the critical role they play in new product design and development. The week is also a time to celebrate how engineers make a difference, increase public dialogue about the need for engineers, and bring engineering to life for kids, educators, and parents.

Digi-Key has its own team of engineers and technicians who are available 24/7 to assist customers with their design decisions – from product selection to prototyping to production-level orders. They are able to help a customer select the best device and components for a new design, solve problems by constructing test circuits and finding workarounds to current prototypes, and offer technical advice during all stages of production.

As part of a series of activities honoring the design engineer, Digi-Key will feature a link to a daily brain teaser puzzle on the homepage of its website. Each day, 50 participants who answer correctly will be chosen to receive an engineer's toolkit. In addition, participants are encouraged to visit Digi-Key's Twitter, Google+ and Facebook pages throughout the day for engineering facts and trivia.

With over 500,000 engineers having purchased from Digi-Key, the company is rooted in a deep understanding of the kinds of tools, resources and components that engineers need. Tools such as the www.eewiki.net website, Digi-Key's EDA and design tools, Product Training Modules, and the reference design and video libraries are just some of the services the company provides with engineers' interests in mind.

Besides supporting its engineering customer base, the company also has several programs and initiatives designed to support students and emerging engineers, such as its sponsorship of the FIRST Robotics Competition which has grown exponentially among the high school-age students as a competitive event.

"We were into technology before it was cool," said Randall Restle, Director of Application Engineering at Digi-Key. "Now, engineering is hot! Events like Engineers Week are helping put engineering on the map and drive engagement – at all levels. Beyond the needs of a professional engineer, crowd funding websites like Kickstarter and popular reality shows like Shark Tank popularize product innovation. And, that's why we're celebrating this week!"
