Digi-Key Corporation Commemorates 35-year History with National Semiconductor

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - 2008 年 06 月 20 日

Mild temperatures and sunny skies provided the backdrop for a recent companywide picnic at Digi-Key Corporation, as the electronic component distributor commemorated its 35-year relationship with National Semiconductor.

Digi-Key Corporation founder and Chairman Ron Stordahl officially began purchasing components from National Semiconductor for his new distribution business in 1973. Although many of National's parts sold well, it was the sale of thousands of National Semiconductor clock modules that played the most significant role in terms of both sales and profits that fueled Dig-Key's growth during its early, critical years of business. National Semiconductor continued as Digi-Key's dominant supplier for some time, and even after 35 years, National enjoys the rank of fifth largest manufacturer for sales amongst Digi-Key's nearly 400 supplier partners.

"The role that National Semiconductor has played in Digi-Key's success story is an important one," said Digi-Key President and COO Mark Larson. "I am pleased that the occasion commemorating our history was one that included Digi-Key's hard-working and dedicated staff."

"We are proud to have played such an instrumental role in the establishment and success of Digi-Key," said Jennifer Bleakney, vice president of National's Worldwide Distribution and Customer Support. "We look forward to our continued partnership, collaboration and growth."

National Semiconductor creates energy-efficient analog devices and subsystems. Products include power management circuits, display drivers, audio and operational amplifiers, communication interface products and data conversion solutions.
