Overview
Multilayerpiezoelectricbimorphactuatorsareceramic
elements used to convert electrical energy into mechanical
energysuchasdisplacementorforcebyutilizingthe
piezoelectric longitudinal effect.
KEMET’s piezoelectric acoustic module use multilayer
piezoelectricbimorphactuatorswhichareproducedbased
on our unique element structure design and piezoelectric
ceramic materials with high electrostrictive factors.
Thepiezoelectricacousticmodulegeneratesbothsound
andvibrationfromthechassissimultaneously.

Article 33(1) of the REACH Regulation states that manufacturers and importers of articles (products) are required to notify
theircustomersofthepresenceofanySubstancesofVeryHighConcern(SVHC)intheirproductsexceeding0.1%byweight
and provide instructions on safe use of the product.
KEMET Corporation reports regarding the Article 33(1) of REACH Regulation as follows:

ThePiezoceramicthatisusedinthisproductbecomesceramicbysinteringpowdercontainingPZTasamainingredient.
Itischemicallystable,withminimumriskstowardthehumanbodyorenvironmentwithintheintendeduseoftheproduct.
Please note that risks could occur in the case of inhalation or accidental oral uptake of powder ceramics.
4. Technical product information on the piezoelectric acoustic modules (Piezoceramic products):
Themanufacturingtechniqueofthe“piezoceramicproducts”whosemainingredientisLeadTitaniumZirconiumOxide
(PZT)hasbeenestablished,andthereisnoalternativematerialthatcanexhibitsuperiorperformancethanPZTatthis
moment.PleasenotethatthepiezoceramicislistedasanexemptonRoHS(2011/65/EU)AnnexIII(7c.1).

applications.Forproperevaluationanddecision,productsshouldbetestedrepeatedlyinbothrealisticandabnormal
operating conditions.
• DoNOTusenearflammablegasorsolventasalcohol,thinner,benzene,gasoline,propanegasduetoriskofexplosionor
fire.
• DoNOTcleanwithflammablesolventsuchasalcohol,thinnerandbenzeneduetoriskofexplosionorfire.
• R11Receiversarebreakableifbendingstressisappliedorincaseofstrongshocksduetodrop.
• DoNOTdrop,applybendingorothermechanicalstressasitmaychangetheperformancecharacteristics.
• DoNOTapplybendingstressduringproducthandlingorassemblingprocess.
• DoNOTremodelR11Receiverstofitintothedesign.
• Do NOT remove R11 Receivers after having applied to the application.
• DoNOToperateorstoreindustyhightemperatureenvironment,nearfire,understronglightorsunshine,intheair

• KEMETrecommendsthatmaximumstoragetemperaturenotexceed85°Candmaximumstoragehumiditynotexceed

fluctuationsshouldbeminimizedtoavoidcondensationontheparts.
• Handle products properly as industrial waste. When disposing, please contact your local waste disposal service and make
sure the disposal methods meet all legal requirements.
• AcousticModules’stockshouldbeusedpromptly,preferablywithin1yearofreceipt.
