Innovative IoT Sensor Technology will be Hot Topic at Sensors Expo 2018

We are looking forward to the Sensors Expo 2018 in San Jose June 26-28. DigiKey is honored to be the platinum sponsor for this outstanding event.

Sensors play a key role in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. IoT is not just about gathering sensor data, it is about applying intelligence to devices and machines around us. Sensors provide the critical feedback to that applied intelligence. Sensors continue to evolve rapidly and be more fully integrated into IoT solutions. Not only are they getting smaller and less expensive, their performance and reliability are increasing exponentially. This translates to enabling more use cases that incorporate sensors.

It is interesting to note that half of the conference tracks pertain directly to IoT. They range from industrial IoT, to wearables and wireless IoT, to machine learning and AI. Is this an IoT or sensors conference? Well, it’s both! And it is not easy to separate one from the other. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of sensors that are used in non-IoT applications. In fact, this may be the majority of the use cases right now. However, customer interest and future growth, no doubt, are coming from the IoT market. Sensors Expo has also created an IoT Connectivity Ecosystem on the Expo Floor for free demos and sessions on leading companies that have integrated sensors and connectivity into IoT solutions that are impacting and expanding markets today.

The Sensors Expo should be a fun event with lots of opportunities for learning and networking. As in years past, I expect this to be a high-energy show with lots of interesting products and ideas. Stop by and visit DigiKey at booth 810. See you in San Jose!
