VY Series Ceramic Safety Capacitors
Vishay's safety capacitors are highly reliable and are coated with a halogen-free and flame retardant epoxy
Vishay introduces two series of AC line rated disc capacitors with a halogen-free, flame retardant epoxy coating that meets the IEC 61249-2-21 standard. The new high-reliability devices feature a through-hole construction with silver plating on both sides of a ceramic disc. The devices can be supplied with vertical kinked or straight leads.
The halogen-free VY1 series features Class X1 760 VAC and Class Y1 500 VAC devices with a capacitance range of 10 pF to 4.7 nF. The new halogen-free VY2 series features Class X1 440 VAC and Class Y2 300 VAC devices with a capacitance range of 10 pF to 10 nF. Dielectric strength is 4000 VAC for the VY1 series and 2600 VAC for the VY2 series devices. Both series are safety rated according to IEC 60384-14 (3rd edition), UL1414, CSA22.2, and CQC. Applications for the new devices will include AC line filtering, primary-second coupling on switching power supplies and AC adapters, and antenna coupling. The devices are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and in accordance to WEEE 2002/96/EC.
