Enter PPS, or Programmable Power Supplies, the latest innovation from USB-C PD (Power Delivery) 3.0, the world's most efficient charging Protocol.
The FUSB3307 is a State Machine Based USB-C PD Source Controller supporting PD 2.0 Fixed Power Data Objects (PDO's) and Augmented PDO's, or Programmable Power Supplies (PPS) because the FUSB3307 is a State Machine Based, no firmware, or software support is required, which means fast to market. The FUSB3307 controls the NCP1342 Primary Side controller by driving the Opto-coupler with the FUSB3307 "CATH" output, this control loop enables PPS granularity of 20mV / 50mA up to 100W (20V/5A).

USB 3.1, GEN1 operates at 5Gbps, while Gen2 operates at 10Gbps.
When transmitting at high speed data rates like 5Gbps and 10Gbps, FR4 and cables act like low pass filters attenuating (loss) the signal integrity or “eye diagram” of the data stream, to the point where a receiver begins dropping bits resulting in high bit error rates. Re-drivers provide equalization gain to compensate for this attenuation, or loss.
Re-drivers enable longer FR4 trace lengths and, or longer cable lengths with USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Gen 2.
