DigiKey Hosts 2019 FIRST Robotics Season Kick-Off

The 2019 FIRST Robotics Competition season kicks off this Saturday, January 5th and we are so excited to be a part of it! For the past several years FIRST Robotics teams from around our area have been coming to DigiKey for this annual world-wide kick-off event. It’s a chance for teams to make new friends and meet up with old ones, maybe find a mentoring team, jot down some game notes, and – of course – pick up their kick-off kit. It’s also a great way to start the season off and get pumped up for the competitions ahead!

Every season has a different theme and this season we are going into DEEP SPACE! DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE blasts off (with the help from The Boeing Company) promptly at 10:30 am Eastern Time. You can watch the kick-off and all of the upcoming season action LIVE on Twitch right here!

Here’s a quick shot of some 2018 Power Up season excitement!

FIRST Robotics inspires kids to create and innovate in all manners and introduces them to where a rewarding career in engineering can take them. The most important part is that they don’t simply learn stem principals, they learn lifelong principals, and we are very proud to be a part of that.

As Dean Kamen FIRST Founder puts it, “FIRST is more than robots. The robots are a vehicle for students to learn important life skills. Kids often come in not knowing what to expect – of the program nor of themselves. They leave, even after the first season, with a vision, with confidence, and with a sense that they can create their own future”.

We wish the best of luck to all the teams in the upcoming 2019 season!
