The three series displayed on this slide, FDSD, FCUL, and DFEC, are produced using a more automated process than the previous three metal-alloy power inductor series. This automation allows for lower cost and higher production throughput. The FDSD Series has the widest inductance value range of the metal-alloy power inductor series in a medium package size and is lower cost than FDV. This series provides currents only up to 10 A. The FCUL Series offers higher currents and capabilities similar to the FDA Series, with a smaller foot print but with a taller profile. The self-terminating structure has no need for a dummy terminal for mounting stability. These inductors have some of the highest current ratings ranging between 15 and 70 A. The DFEC Series is the lowest cost and smallest of the metal-alloy inductors with the largest lineup of over 180 variations. Utilizing metal-alloy advancements, Murata has been able to produce a cost friendly, small package-size solution with currents up to 20 A.
