DAC-Architecture-Slide5

The DAC most commonly used as an example of a simple DAC structure is the binary weighted DAC. The manufacturing process is difficult though because it is hard to match resistor values with sufficient accuracy. Because of this, they are rarely used in DACs (except in HF applications). The changeover switches are not necessary at low frequencies (LF) and may be replaced with simple on-off switches.
