The next few slides show the frequency and time domain response of the regulator. The higher switching frequency enables users to target a higher crossover point while still maintaining stability. The higher crossover point improves the responsiveness of the regulator to transients. In this example, the bode plot on the left shows the regulator having a crossover of 10KHz with 65° of phase margin. This is plenty of stability, but the regulator is over damped and slow to respond to transients. Thus, the output voltage has over and undershoot excursions in excess of 130mV.
