"Since 1976, the Gail S. Carter Award, the ECIA's highest award, is voted on by the Board of Directors and given annually to an individual who has made giant contributions to the electronic components industry over the course of their careers, and have been very active in their involvement with, and support of, the industry associations," said John Denslinger, president and CEO of ECIA.

"Mark Larson was chosen to receive this award on the high service side of things based on his leadership in the transformation of what was once called catalog distribution to a world known leader in the use of the internet to market and sell electronic components," added Denslinger. “He has also been very generous with his time and commitment serving on the board of directors and executive committee of the National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA) to which he was first elected in 2005, and then ECIA, and he is also a member of the Electronic Distribution Industry Council (EDIC)."

Larson likewise received praise for his contributions to Minnesota’s economy and the greater Thief River Falls community.

"I am extremely grateful to have received this award from an organization that is so prominent in the electronic component industry," said Larson. “The award has previously been given to many powerful and influential industry leaders, and I am humbled to now be a part of that prestigious list. I would like to thank our suppliers, representatives and customers and employees for helping Digi-Key continue to grow and be successful."
