Digi-Key Corporation Honors Employee Giving with Recognition Lunch

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minnesota, USA - 2011 年 11 月 09 日

Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry's broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, recognized employee commitment to the community outreach program, Digi-Key Cares, with a celebratory luncheon held November 4th. Local organizations including the Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf, Falls Delivered Meals ("Meals on Wheels"), and Pennington County Humane Society were the primary beneficiaries of the Digi-Key Cares program's efforts in 2011.

"The Digi-Key Cares community outreach program was organized last spring, and we wanted to have this recognition luncheon last week to wrap up our first season of Digi-Key Cares and celebrate the generosity of our employees in supporting some really great local charitable organizations," said Rick Trontvet, vice president, human resources, Digi-Key Corporation. "In this first year of our program, more than 300 of our employees volunteered almost 1000 hours and raised more than $15,000 that was distributed among the three charities recently. The eagerness demonstrated by our employees in donating both time and money to these worthy causes reflects on the quality of our workforce."

Digi-Key Cares was created to provide an outlet for Digi-Key employees to give their personal time and resources to support charitable organizations in the Thief River Falls area. In conjunction with this program, employees are able to volunteer their time at various community charitable organizations during or after their regularly scheduled work hours. "The goal of Digi-Key Cares is to build a spirit of teamwork and community volunteerism within our workforce, as well as an outward focus of care and concern for others, including those less fortunate," said Trontvet.

Certain Digi-Key business partners matched the Digi-Key employee fundraising efforts and recently donated a combined $40,000 to a variety of local charities, including some of the organizations targeted this year by Digi-Key Cares. Mark Larson, Digi-Key Corporation president, said, "We're encouraged by the results in 2011 and feel this program is providing great opportunities for us as a company to make a positive difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors."
