FOOT GROUND, HEEL
Description:
The 17200 and 17202 Foot Grounders provide a continuous ground path between an
operator and a properly grounded ESD protected flooring. These foot grounders are
designed for use on standard shoes. They can be easily adjusted to fit most individuals.
Desco’s foot grounders have a lining that prevents carbon marks on shoes. Foot grounder models
17200 and 17202 have discrete resistors built into the contact strip. Model 17200 has a one
megohm resistor and model 17202 has a two megohm resistor. The product has been tested to
ESD STM97.2 - Floor Materials and Footwear Voltage Measurement in Combination with a Person.
It is a suitable ESD footwear component in Flooring - Footwear System when used as the primary
grounding method (<3.5 x 10E7 ohms per ESD STM 97.1 Floor Materials and Footwear-Resistance
Measurement in Combination with a Person.)
Components:
A. 0.060” thick (± 0.005), 1" wide contact area
a. Outer black layer is conductive neoprene.
b. Inner layer is insulative neoprene.
c. Tear resistant nylon reinforced 4.3 oz. inner scrim layer prevents the rubber from tearing.
B. 3/8" wide, 30" long blue nylon ribbon contains 8 electrically conductive carbon suffused fibers,
reversible, may be positioned on either side of foot.
C. 3/4" wide blue non-elastic hook material.
D. 3/4" wide blue stretch loop material, for quick and easy attachment to foot.
listed. Lot coded for quality traceability.

Note:
“For standing operations, personnel shall be grounded via a wrist strap
system or by a flooring/footwear system.” (ANSI/ESDS20.20)
“ESD footwear should be tested at least daily while worn. See ESD TR53”
(ESD Handbook TR20.20 section 5.3.3.4)
“Heel and toe grounders shall be worn on both feet to insure effective
use.” (ESD Handbook ESD TR20.20-2008 section 5.3.3.3.4 Footwear
Proper Usage)
UL caution “Note: This product is not recommended for use on equipment with operating voltage
exceeding 250 VAC. The ESD Series is for electrostatic control. It will not reduce or increase your risk
of receiving electric shock when using or working on electrical equipment. Follow the same precautions
you would use without wrist straps, including: Make certain that equipment having a grounding type plug
is properly grounded.”
